Shades2Fly is a product designed to provide up to 95% protection against heat and UV rays produced by the sun during flight. It is made of polyester fabric PVC coated (70% PVC, 30% Polyester) that makes it resistant and easy to clean.
The openness factor 5%, 3% or 1% design provides sun protection for pilots. Even so, for safety reasons it si not recommended to use them during taxi, takeoff, approach and landing maneuvers.
What Is the Openness Factor?
The openness factor on a cockpit window shade refers to how tightly the fabric is woven. The tighter the weave, the more sunlight it blocks. Conversely, a looser weave will allow more sunlight to come in through the cockpit window. The openness factor is expressed using a percentage, with lower numbers representing a higher level of opacity and protection. A window shade with a 1% openness factor will provide more shade and protection than one with a 5% openness factor.
Different openness factors offer different benefits. One level is not inherently better than another; it all comes down to what you want from your cockpit window shades.
B737 700/800/8/9 Shades2fly
Shades fit correctly the flight deck windows of aircraft type A320 series. Are very easy to unbox, apply and box them after use.
It is possible to set four different types of shades2fly.
- First one is 5% configuration. It means that the three cockpit windows are made in 5% of openness factor.
- Second is 1%. It means that the three cockpit windows are made in 1% of openness factor.
- Third is 3%. It means that the three cockpit windows are made in 3% of openness factor.
- Mixed 5% and 3% means that the two lateral cockpit windows are made in 3% openness factor and only the front cockpit window is made in 5% openness factor.
Shades reduces the glare, heat and sun radiation on flight deck. Athough they reduce the risks of skin diseases, it does not prevent them at all.
